Disanchor’s first version will be a Linux PC. You’ll open it in your browser, with nothing to install.
We set out to build a personal Windows PC in the cloud. As we tested the pieces, two things stood out. A PC you open in a browser works from more devices and needs no client. And a Linux desktop lets us test the whole experience sooner.
So the first version is a personal Linux PC: your own desktop in the cloud, with installed apps, saved files and settings that stay between visits, more performance when the work needs it, and clear controls over what is running and what it costs.
What changes for you: the apps are Linux apps. Software that runs only on Windows won’t be available in this version. We’ll publish the browsers and apps we support after testing.
The Windows version is set aside, not abandoned. If it comes back, we’ll write about it here.
First version: a Linux PC of your own, in your browser. Windows-only software is not part of it.
